OSPFLOR 97F: Italy and the EU in a Changing World (Way: SI)
Instructor: Mattia Guidi
This course examines Italian politics and its evolving relationship with the European Union against the backdrop of an ever-changing global landscape. We begin by tracing the historical and institutional foundations of the modern Italian state, from the unification of Italy and the establishment of the Republic to the adoption of the 1947 Constitution. Building on this context, we explore the development of key political institutions, electoral systems, party competition, and the functions of constitutional bodies such as the Presidency and the Constitutional Court, analyzing their trajectories from the aftermath of World War II to the present day.
